Territorial Air Force Officers

WELLINGTON. Wed. (P.A.t—The /Minister of Defence (Mr Jones) announced the commander of the four first Territorial Air Force Squadrons, all of whom will hold the rank of Squadron Leader, as follows: No. 1 /Auckland, Squadron Leader W. K. Patterson, DFC. of Auckland. No. 2, Wellington, Wing Commander J. A. Oldfield, DFC. of Wellington. No. 3, Canterbury, Wing Commander J. R. Maling, AFC. of Christchurch. No. 4. Otago. Wing Commander W. R. Kofoc-d. DSC. DFC. of Outram, Taicri Valley. The Minister said the selection of other personnel of territorial squadrons was nearing completion, but there was still a shortage of officers, other ranks, and ground tradesmen, which it is hoped to fill by applications from reservists.

REGULAR PERSONNEL The commanding officers of the RNZAF parent stations at Whenuapai. Wigram and Ohakea, would release the details of other selections for the territorial squadrons in due course. A cadre of Regular Air Force personnel had been appointed to each squadron for staff' and instructional duties, the initial allotment of aircraft had already been made to the squadrons, and training would commence as soon as the personnel selected had been enlisted.
