LONDON. Tue. (2.30 p.m.).—Mr Emrys Hughes (Lab.) told the House of Commons during the Civil Defence bill debate that American scientists had told him that they were now dis-f cussing the possibility of a rocket driven by atomic energy which could reach any.part of fhe world in eight minutes.
Mr T. Scolland (Lab.) said: “Britain can’t be defended in- atomic warfare. : The City of London could be wiped' out by three or four atomic bombs.” 'y
