LONDON.—The Ministry of Defence stated that Britain’s total defence including women’s services, num-bered'-786,900 on October 1, compared with 931,200 on April 1. Civilian employes nurrWered 229,000 jon October 1. The Royal Navy’s total strength on October 1 was 140,500, compared with 144,400 on April 1. The strength of the Army was 419,000, compared with 530,900. and of the Royal Air Force 227,400, compared with 255,900.
