Cargo Catches Fire
AUCKLAND, Wed. (Sp.)—Steel and hardwood poles in the hold of the •4373-ton steamer Suva were slightly damaged by fire and water when fire broke out in the No. 2 hold during the Tasman voyage from Sydney to Auckland. The ship arrived at Auckland yesterday morning. It is believed that the fire started by a cigarette end falling through a ventilator. The fire was quickly detected and extinguished.
