LONDON. A vast new British Army depot has been opened at Mackinnon Road, 70 miles from Mombasa, Kenya, says the military correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. The first of its two main purposes is to take by September, 1949, 182,000 tons of Royal Engineers stores, representing three years’ national output. These stores are being evacuated from base ordnance depots at Rafah, Tel el Kebir and other storage sites outside the Suez Canal Zone.
