GOOD MARKSMANSHIP AT GUN CLUB' CHAMPS
PRINCIPAL winners at the Northland gun club championships, conducted by the Whangarei District Gun Club at its Kioreroa range, were D. P. North and L. F. Ramsey. North won the single rise championship and Ramsey took the honours in the double rise championship event.
Shooters from Northland clubs and from as far south as Huntly participated in the events which carried over £2OO in prize money. Except for two short heavy showers in the later afternoon good weather conditions prevailed. A high standard of marksmanship was evident throughout the meeting. Results were:—
Northland Single Rise Championship (Silver Pigeon Trophy): D. P. North 20 birds, 1; L. Ball and E. Butcher, IS birds, 2.
Northland Double Rise Championship (six pairs of targets): L. F. Ramsey', 12 birds, 1; D. P. North and L Ball, 11 birds, 2.
£25 Open Handicap (15 targets): C Plaggie, P. Churchy R. Quaife, and M Russ shot possibles and divided the prize.
£1 Sweepstake: 9 shooters divided the £lB prize. Five-bird Gymcrack: L. Ramsey, R Cavanagh, M. Russ and D. P. North shot possibles and divided the prize money.
£1 Sweepstake: C. liaggie, A. L Byrne, D. P. North and L. Ramsey divided the prize. Ten-bird Sweepstake: J. Randell, L Ramsey, A. L. Byrne, L. Curtis, N Noakes, R. Cavanagh and C. Haggie divide the £l4 prize.
