Ksmo Likely To Oppose Absorption

“We took no hand in the question of whether Kamo should come into the borough or stay out, and we are not going to interfere in any shape or form,” said the Mayor of Whangarei (Mr W. Jones) this morning, when the decision of the Local Government Commission regarding the inclusion of Kamo in the thorough was referred to him.

“If Kamo comes into the borough we will do ouj;, level best for it,” he added. The chairman of the Kamo Town Board (Mr W. Boswell) said the board had not yet met to discuss the question.

He considered, however, that it would oppose amalgamation.

“I maintain and have always maintained that Kamo should not be included in, the Whangarei borough yet,” he remarked. Mr Boswell said the board would call a public meeting shortly to go further into the question.
