Mrs E. Tubb 80 Years Old Today
Celebrating her BGth birthday today, Mrs E. Tubb, of Kamo Road Whangarei, does not appear to be within 20 years of her age. She came to Lyttelton on the sailing ship Waitangi in 1880 from Northampton, where her father, Mr Sydney Smith, was a boot manufacturer.
For many years the family lived in Carlton Mill Road, Christchurch, near Sir Heaton Rhodes' home. In 1892 she married Mr C. E. Tubb. a signwriter of Christchurch. Mrs Tubb spent her entire life in Christchurch until she came to Whangarei 13 years ago, when she lived with her daughter, Mrs R. Haden. She celebrated her birthday by baking for the family party, which was held this afternoon. Mrs Tubb has two daughters, Mesdames R. Haden and G. Relf. and three grandsons, Messrs N. B. Haden and B. L. Haden and V. K. Relf.
