Search For Armed Mon Sn Taranaki
NEW PLYMOUTH, Thu. (Sp.)—A man armed with a sawn-off shotgun has for three days eluded the New Plymouth police, who have been combing the district for him since he was seen to leave a disused hut on Sunday afternoon. Thefts of clothing, food and a carhave been reported from three houses in a suburb of Westown. The car has since been found abandoned down a bank at Te Kauwhata. Although it is not known definitely that they are linked with the manhunt, the thefts at Westown involved a suit a clothes, a garbedine trench coat and a small sum of money from one dwelling and, food from another. The ice cream factory of Egmont Frozen Products, Ltd., was also broken into and a cash box containing a small sum of money was taken. The hunted man is about sft llin in height, slim, dark and with thin features. His age is between 21 and 30. No description of his clothing could be given because he has changed this on several occasions since the search began. It is understood that the suit stolen at Westown was dark with ;a pin stripe.
