Instruction About Section For M.P.
AUCKLAND, Tue. (Sp.)—"l was informed by the Commissioner ofCrown Lands, North Auckland District (Mr B. King) that definite instructions had been received from the Minister of Lands (Mr Skinner) that the section was to be made available to the member of Parliament,” said Mr D. Kitchen, a member of the North Auckland Land Board, yesterday.
He was replying to a statement made by the Minister in the House of Representatives recently that no instructions had been given from his office for a section at Tamaki to be made available to Mr T. E. Skinner (G—Tamaki).
Referring to the Minister’s statement that he (Mr Kitchen) did not vote against the motion when the matter was before the board, Mr Kitchen said he had protested against the statement that a member of Parliament had a preference right. He was then informed that definite instructions to this effect had been received from the Minister of Lands. He did not record his vote against the motion because of statements which gave him the impression that the member of Parliament concerned had a lawful preference over the section.
