WELLINGTON, Wed. (3.15, P.A.L— The latest message from Frankton Junction said there were three known dead, and one whole street of houses had been completely razed.
This was announced in the House of Representatives by Mr Nash at 2.30 p.m.
He said the Prime Minister, accompanied by the local M.P.s, Mrs Ross and Mr Baxter, were leaving for Hamilton by special plane, arriving there between 3 and 3.30 p.m. Arrangements have been made for all possible aid.
The Public Works Department is sending relief gangs from Cambridge. Extra police are being sent from Auckland.
The Army is providing all possible aid, including shelters, ambulances and camp stores. » Cabinet had considered the disaster a few minutes before the House met and approved Mr Fraser's personal attendance on the scene.
