Bay Racing Club Seeking Licence
5/- Tote . . .
KAWAKAWA, Sat. <Sp.)— A suggestion that, as it was the senior picnic club of the North, the Bay of Islands Racing Club should apply to the Internal Affairs Department for a licence to run an experimental 5/- totalisator was made at the club’s annual meeting, held in Kawakawa.
The suggestion was made by Mr F. A. Paul, who considered that the 5/“tote” could be in the nature of a trial under the supervision of one of the department’s officers. The meeting agreed to his suggestion and application will accordingly be made.
It was agreed that it be a direction to the executive committee that, irrespective of whether a totalisaor licence should be granted or not. stake money for next summer’s meeting shall remain at last year's figures.
Application is to bo made to the District Racing Council for January 24 as the date of the 1949 meeting. A full list of officers was chosen with the exception of the post of handicapper.
