No Further Relief For Heads Road

Representations concerning the Whangarei Heads road, made by Mr A. J. Murdoch, M.P., drew the following reply from the Minister of Works submitted to the Whangarei County Council today: “The Whangarei County Council was given a grant of £1(L0 last yeai to repair this road, and in accepting it the council agreed to maintain the road to a reasonable standard, and I can only presume that the county will honour its obligations in this respect,” wrote Mr Semple. “As regards having the road declared a main highway, the Main Highways Board will be unable to relieve the council of further roads foi some time to come as its funds are fully required to maintain the existing highways system.” The letter was received.
