Former Palestine Police For Malaya
LONDON, Wed. (10.30 a.m.).—Nearly 400 policemen formerly in Palestine and colonial police officers with Palestine service will be flown to Malaya by the end of August. One small party has already left London and 40 more are leaving tomorrow.
The flights are being treated as wartime operations and there will be only six stops for refuelling. Reuters The Hague correspondent learns that the British authorities in Malaya' and Dutch authorities on neighbouring territories are increasing collaboration to prevent illegal immigration into Singapore, mainly by Chinese from the islands of the Rhio Archipelago between Sumatra and Singapore.
DYAKS ARRIVE A party of Dyaks has arrived in Malaya from Sarawak to assist in combating terrorism. Another limited number will arrive soon.
The Dyaks are traditional headhunters.
The Chinese have applied for permission to form their own Chinese auxiliary police force in Johore to help the authorities to combat terrorism.
Observers believe that this is an important development in the Malay-, an political situation, in which the majority of the Chinese populace so far has remained inactive in face of the terrorist challenge to the Govern-; ment. | I
