Hikurangi Boxing

The Hikurangi boys' boxing gymnasium is a hive of activity these days. Main reason is that a tournament is being staged early in October, a team of Auckland pugilists is being brought up and some of the locals ere keen to have a bout with them. Brothers Maurice and Les Gabolinsev and Lloyd Williams are in good condition and will he strong contenders for the Northland junior welter, middle and lightweight titles this season. Others in fine fettle are tlie Cunningham brothers, A. Bardie, Los Williams. and L. Nisbet. They are ready to don gloves at a tournament.

,T. Crackett, S. Rear and E. Wells will soon be ready to make their tournament debut.

All are in the capable hands of Mr Wal McConnell, recently licensed in Auckland gs a trainer. Mr B. J. I-lardie, secretary-treasurer for the past 12 months, has resigned the secretaryship on account of illhealth.

He has done a great job for the gym and merits the bulk of the credit for its healthy financial position He is carrying on as treasurer and a member of the committee.

Mr T. Hodgkinson is the new sec retary.

Mr Jim Scott is a live and enthusiastic president
