Ship To Load Phosphate Cargo For Whangarei

AUCKLAND, Wed. (P.A.). —Bought recently by the Northern Steamship Company, the 500-ton motor vessel Goldfmder is expected to leave Cardiff today for Whangarei, via Portugal and Tunisia.

She will run between Auckland and North Island west coast ports, also Picton.. Built at Hamburg in 1939, and fitted with diesel engines in Britain in 1942, the Goldfmder has been exclusively in the Continental trace. Commanded by Captain J. Appleton, who flew from New Zealand to Eng-

land, she will carry a cargo to Portugal and load phosphate at Sfax forWhangarei. She is the first new vessel purchased by the company since the Ranginui 10 years ago. and brings the company’s fleet to 10. The Ranginui is at present on the Whangarei-Auckland run.
