No Maoris For S. African Tour!

WELLINGTON, Thu. (P.A.t After a discussion in committee and in the presence of Mr Kingi Tahiwi, representative of the Maori Advisory Board, the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union today announced its policy regarding the selection of Maoris or players with Maori blood in the team visiting South Africa next year. “In view of the domestic policy of South Africa, the council of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union reaffirms its previous decision, made both this year and prior to the 1928 lour, that much as it is regretted, players to be selected to tour South Africa cannot be other than wholly European.

“This is in accordance with the views of the Maori Advisory Board to tho New Zealand union, which adds that it is its wish not to interfere with Government decrees of another country.”
