Rebels Blow Up Railway Lines

Announcing this to Parliament today/the Minister of the Interior (Signor Scelba) said: “Revolutionary forces” had blown l up sections of four railway lines and tried to cut the main 'telephone cable between North and Central Italy, j The Chamber of Deputies exploded into uproar on hearing • Signor Scelba’s statement. The Communists and Left-Wing Socialists alone remained silent.
Signor Scelba revealed that armed rebels attacked with grenades and gunfire police forces guarding the Albatia San Salvatoie telephone and power station ii\ Tuscany, which the main relay point of the central telephone cable between Northern and Central Italy. The rebels attacked and prevented reinforcements reaching Albatia. Other troops have been sent in from Grossetto and nearby towns. The Minister also revealed: (1) At Civita Vecchia a section of < the main coastal railway was blown up; (2) A section of the main RomeFlorence railway was blown up at Chiusi; (3) A section of the track was .t blown up between Rome and Terni, £ on the main line to the Adriatic coast; . , (4) A section of the track blown up on the Orte-Falconare line along the ~ Adriatic; , (5) A mob near Civita Vecchia at- A tacked the main power-station for the | electric railway. c Despite this sabotage 13 good trains , reached Rome this afternoon, assuring food supplies.
