Greymouth Miners Still Op Strike .
GREYMOUTH, Mon. (Sp.)-By a 20; to 1 majority the miners at the Liver- | pool and Strongman state mines re- j jeeted on Saturday recommendation; of the national council of the United j Mine Workers of New Zealand, and ; decided to remain on strike. Attended by about 250 men the : meeting lasted for about two and a ; half hours. It was addressed bv Mr j A. V. Prenderville, president, and Mr F. Crook, secretary, of the United Mina j Workers, and by other members of the j national council.
The president of the Runanga Min- | ers’ Union (Mr G. E. English) said the I men did not consider the -terms offered j by the council were fair. They would still have left Ihe pen-; alty clauses unde/ which the miners ] would be penalised if a mine-mouth j meeting lasted beyond a certain time. I Mr English added that the national delegates would now report to each ! branch of the United Mine Workers | in their own districts and explain the position. The nature of the national council's recommendation was not made public.
