Noted Airmens Mother Killed
HASTINGS, Fri. (Sp.).—Mrs E. R. Tacon, mother of Wing Commander W. Tacon, of the King’s Flight, was killed in a car collision near here last night. Mrs Tacon was also the mother of the late Mr John Tacon, who was lost on a flight to Taupo last year. Four people were injured in the collision. They are:
Miss Anne Tacon, aged 16, of Riverslea Road South, Hastings. Concussion and internal injuries. Condition serious. Miss Joan Kale, aged 21, Queen Street East, Hastings. Concussion, severe head lacerations, injuries to left leg and arm. Condition serious. Mr Brian Fergusson, aged 20, 805 Avenue Road East, Hastings. Lacerations and concussion. Condition serious. Mr George Taaffe, Hastings. Abrasions and shock. Condition not serious.
Mr Taaffe, who was alone, was driving foward Hastings, and the other car, driven by Mr Fergusson, was travelling to Bridge Pa aerodrome, where the party was to attend a dancd at the clubhouse.
After the collision Mr Fergusson’s car skidded across the road and crashed into a fence. " Mr Taaffe’s car ovei'turned over a low bank further on. Both cars were almost wrecked.
