Steer Amok In Dargaviile
DARGAVILLE, Tue. (P.A.) .—Gored in the chest by a steer that ran amok in Normanby Street and rushed the pram in which she and her twin brother were lying shortly after 4.30 p.m. yesterday, 15-months-oM Dianne Mary Brophy was admitted to the Northern Wairoa Hospital to have her wound stitched. Her three-year-old brother. Patrick John Brophy, who sustained lacerations to one leg when struck by the steer, was also admitted to hospital. Both children are progressing satisfactorily, the boy’s condition being slightly better than the girl’s. Other than suffering shock, the children’s mother, Mrs E. J. Brophy, and the other occupant of the pram, Dennis Edward Brophy, were not injured. They were the only people in the immediate vicinity of the beast at the time.
