Easing In Coupon Limits

LONDON, Thu. GO a.m.)— Children’s footwear would be free from coupons, the President of the Board of Trade (Mr Wilson) announced in the House of Commons today.

The coupon value of all other footwear would be halved.

Cheaper utility wool cloth and garments made from it would be pointed down by approximately one-third. Seamless rayon stockings would be pointed down from one and a half to one coupon a pair, and gloves by half a coupon. Discussions were being opened with the trade to arrive at clearance rates which would allow sales of slow-sell-ing clothing Mocks at half coupon rates and low prices.

Mr Wilson, in warning that the measures were only temporary, said there was undoubtedly overstocking in some clothing.
