New Polio Cases In Northland

A further positive case of infantile paralysis, a Maori boy aged one year, has occurred in the Mangonui County. The patient is from Wliatuwhiwhi and was admitted to Kaitaia Hospital on Wednesday.

Another case has occurred in the Dargaville area. The patient is a woman aged 28 from a country district near Dargaville.

She is now in the Northern Wairoa Hospital.

This brings the number of cases in the Dargaville area to five, and the Northland total to 30. CASES ELSEWHERE

A new positive case was reported in Taranaki yesterday. The patient is a boy aged 12 from Hawera.

A case at the New Plymouth Hospital diagnosed as positive last week has proved not to be infantile paralysis and two other suspects at the hospital have proved negative. A positive case of infantile para.ysis, a 17-year-old Christchurch girl, has been notified. It was the first notification since January 20 and the fourth positive case notified from the city since the epidemic broke out last November.
