Anzac Day Arrangements

Anzac Day will be observed in Whangarci with a service-at the Triangle at 2.30 p.m.

A minister appointed by the Whangarei Ministers’ Association will address the meeting, and the ex-service-men present will march past the saluting base.

This was decided at a meeting of interested organisations called by the Public Relations Committee of the Whangarei Borough Council. Arrangements for the parade will be made by the Area Officer (Captain N. R. Ingle), and the march will be restricted to the form up, march past, and fall out.

If it should rain on the day, the parade will be held in the Town Hall without a march past. The - chairman of the committee (Mr H. P. Conyers-Brown) sought views on whether the statue in the Triangle should be cleaned or not.

Some of those present considered that it should be left to mellow, and,' others that it should be cleaned to show that the reason for its erection was not forgotten. No decision was reached, as the chairman said that the matter was outside the reference of the meeting.

The Post” and “Reveille” will be sounded at the parade, and music for the service will be provided by the Salvation Army Band.
