Sweeping Proposals For 32nd Labour Conference
WHEN the 32nd annual conference of the Labour Party opens at Dunedin on May 3 the delegates will have before them many remits which propose sweeping changes in the general life of the country. Some of the remits are hardy annuals, others are making their first appearance. Here are some of the proposals to be considered:
Abolition of the right of inheritance. Payment to all workers of a “national dividend” of £1 a week from the Consolidated Fund.

That rationing be abolished. ■ That corporal and capital punishment be reintroduced. That M.P.s salaries be raised to £2OOO a year. ABOLISH HONOURS That the Government take over either the daily Fress or one newspaper in each city. That the practice of ministers of religion making political references during religious broadcasts be prohibited. The only remit on immigration suggests that it should cease until the housing shortage is relieved. That Birthday and New Year Honours be abolished. A general reduction in taxation is advocated. That there shoujd be a tax on capital. That for income tax purposes the fused car trade should be investigated. -
That the Government should take over or control breweries, meat trusts, munition plants, the Union Steam Ship Co., coastal shipping, all airways, industrial life insurance, the importation and marketing of petroleum products, any private industry that refuses to produce commodities at Price Tribunal prices, and passenger services in districts where this is sought by the local residents. UNPRODUCTIVE LAND
Amendment of the school curriculum by removing any trace of capitalist philosophy and by including more social eduction is proposed. All unproductive land should be acquired by the state or compulsorily offered for sale.
That a rise of 10 per cent on the 1942 value of improvements should be allowed by the Land Sales Court.
That state house tenancies be decided by ballot, that the names and addresses of new state house tenants be
