Goods Tram Derailed Ors Central Otago Line

DUNEDIN, Sat. (P.A.) A Central Otago goods train which left Dunedin last night was derailed in the Lauder Gorge at about 6 a.m. this morning. Nobody was injured. Information received by the Railways Department in Dunedin today was that about 12 wagons were off the line and several had piled up beside the track. * A breakdown train left Dunedin at 9 a.m. and was expected on the scene at about 2 p.m. It is understood that only' the middle section of the train was derailed, both the locomotive and the rear goods van being left on the line. No information about the cause of the mishap had been received in Dunedin early this afternoon, and this will probably not be available until the track is inspected by the crew of the breakdown train.

The department hopes to clear the line without much trouble and no dislocation of services is expected.
