Indonesian Truce Reports Confined
BATAVIA. Fri. (11 a.m.)—A communique confirming reports that the Indonesian Republic yesterday had accepted proposals for a truce in Indonesia. offered by the Netherlands, has been issued by the Security Council's Good Offices Committee.
The communique said the Republic also accepted a number of political principles for the settlement of the political dispute. The truce agreement was row being worked out in its final form and would probably be signed tomorrow. A quick cessation of insecurity and a restoration of the economic assets of the country would follow rapid and honest implementation of the truce. The Governor General of the Indies (Dr van Mook) described the agreement as not a victory for either party, but as a victory for the good offices committee.
He said he thought the agreement contained all the possibilities of a quick solution of the remaining problems.
