SATURDAY CLOSING Saturday was again fixed as a statuj tory closing day for shops in the Wha- ! ngarei County at a special meeting of | the Whangarei County Council held yesterday. HEAVY CARTING On the motion of Cr P. Carter, the ; Whangarei County Council yesierday | resolved to require contractors to give | notice of their intention to use heavy j transport on county roads. This would ! give the council the opportunity to avoid excessive wear and tear on a road in the winter. MAN STRUCK BY CAR Struck by a motor car driven by Mr N. C. Pepi, of Parua Bay, in Maunu Road, Whangarei. last night, Mr Bob Paraha, 27, of Whangarei, received slight injuries to his forehead, right arm and left thigh. He was taken 1o the Whangarei , Hospital and his condition is reported to be satisfactory. These are for those who know values at Henry Wilson’s.
