Consecration Of New Bishop

AUCKLAND, Sat. (Sp.)—The ceremony of consecration of the Bishopelect of Melanesia (the Very Rev. S. G. Caulton, Dean of Auckland) will be conducted in St Mary’s Cathedral, Auckland, on Monday February 2, at 10.30 a.m. by the Primate of New Zealand (Archbishop West-Watson). He will be assisted by bishops from seven Dominion dioceses and, possibly, one from an English diocese. Dean Caulton will be the eighth Bishop of Melanesia, and this will be the first time a Dean of Auckland and vicar of St Mary’s has been consecrated as a bishop in the cathedral. The mandate for the consecration will be read by the chancellor of the diocese (Mr A. M. Woods, of Whangarei).
