(6) That- the Ministry of Works, State Hydro-Electric Department and Labour Department have on their staffs senior technical intelligence officers. (7) That the State Forest Service have attached to it a senior technical in- . telligence officer with suitable staff', and under certain conditions carry out research on the supplying and preparation of timber for the market. (8) That a central intelligence section at the proposed research station in Wellington be established, and that this, together with the three univer- , sity colleges, should also act as regional advisory centres. (9) That existing dispersed units and energies be brought together into a coordinated scheme, the university
colleges of Canterbury and Auckland being utilised as centres for much of the work. (10) That research on building requirements under a joint committee of the Medical Research Council be inaugurated and that the work be centred at Otago. (ID That a university department of economics be encouraged to apply its technique to the building and civil engineering industries; that a cooperative research group between the Building and Civil Engineering Research Board and the Ministry of Works to begin investigations into methods of costing be formed; that the work on industrial psychology in cooperation with the Medical Research Council and the industry be expanded considerably.
