All Safe On Russian Ship

TOKIO, Fri. (10 a.m.).—Pilots flying over the Russian motorship Dvina, m distress with 800 passengers aboard 180 miles east of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island, said the vessel was being buffeted by mountainous seas and appeared to be in imminent danger of capsizing. Later the United States Navy relayed a radio message from the Jap-anese-manned victory ship Mary E. Kinney that the Dvina did not appear to be in immediate danger. The Kinney said that all passengers and crew aboard the stricken vessel are safe, but no further details are given.

The pilot of one aircraft which flew over the Dvina i said 40 to 50 people were huddled in the bow and stern of the Dvina, which already has water six feet deep in her hold.
