Bos Murphy May Fight Graziano

LONDON Wed.—lf Bos Murphy, of New Zealand, beats Vince Hawkins, the British middle-weight champion, at the Royal Albert Hall on January 26, he will meet Marcel Cerdan, the French and European champion, at a later date. The winner of that fight will have first claim to a title bout with Rocky Graziano. of America, the world middle-weight champion. That is the programme which Murphy’s manager, Sana Burns, who is general manager for Jack Solomons, the international boxing promoter, has for the New Zealander. ACCLIMATISED “Murphy is coming along very nicely in his training for his fight with Hawkins.” said Burns. “He did very well to beat the Jamaican, Roy Petersen, in his last fight, but I was not altogether pleased with him then, for I know he is a better fighter than he appeared to be that night. “It has taken him a few months to get acclimatised here, and that was partly the trouble. “Murphy is now getting quite used to English conditions,” continued Burns, “and I feel he has every chance against Hawkins though the British boy is probably the best fighter Murphy has ever met. "Hawkins has only lost three fights in the whole of his career and he is a great fighter.” Burns remarked that Murphy had made a most favourable Impression in British boxing circles, and added: “He is a most intelligent chap.”
