LABOUR

NELSON.—Move seasonal labour will be required in the Nelson district this season than ever before as the’ result of increased plantings of tobacco .and hops. Hopgrowers estimate that their harvest will require about 1000 workers from outside districts. With at least 400 more acres of tobacco planted, a great deal, more labour will be needed to handle the tobacco crop.

Last year orchards and tobacco took about 580 each, some of these following on from hoppicking.
