Canterbury Has Outright Win

CHRISTCHURCH, Mon. (Sp.)—The last Wellington wicket fell in Wellington’s second innings on Saturday with 30 minutes remaining for play and Canterbury thus snatched an outright victory by 142 runs. Wellington required 417 runs to win but was all out for 274. At one stage, six wickets were down for 82 but the later batsmen stepped into the breach and there was a chance that Wellington might play out time. The run out of Reid in the first 20 piinutes of play was the turning point of the game. C. S. Dempster and Crawford did not look like staying and it was not till Tindill and Wilson became associated that the side made any material progress.
