Whangarei Egg Floor
Nothing further in regard to the establishment of an egg floor in Whangarei is likely to be undertaken until after the holidays. Enquiries made in Whangarei this morning disclosed that officials of the Internal Marketing Division had recently been in Whangarei to discuss this proposal with interested persons. However, they have now returned to Wellington, and intend making a further visit some time in the new. year.
In the meantime egg producers, and others affected are to weigh up the pros and cons of the idea and have decisions made when the officials return.
The establishment of a local egg floor would mean that all eggs produced for sale in the district would come into Whangarei, and the sellers would then collect the Government subsidy of 2d a dozen for eggs classified and sold through the Internal Marketing Division. The actual procedure would follow that already adopted for Auckland and other areas.
