Permission for the screening of pictures in the two Whangarei theatres on Christmas Night was asked of the Borough Council last night. The applications by the theatre managers specified that no member of the staff would be required to work unless it was desired to do so, that special award rates 4 ~Wubld be paid, and that programmes would be subject to the council’s approval. The requests were referred to the public relations committee.
