National Milk Price Of 19.1352 d
The national town milk price, payable to approved producer organisations under the national milk scheme, has been fixed by the Minister of Marketing for the 1947-43 season at 19.1352 c! a gallon based on an average of 4.3 per cent test milk.
So the Whangarei Milk Authority was informed last night in a letter from the director of milk marketing, who stated that agreement had been reached between the executive cl' the Town Milk Producers’ Federation and the Milk Marketing Division. In the North Island, for nominated quantities, the seasonal prices at farm gate were 15.75 d per gallon from September to January inclusive, 19.50 c! per gallon from February to April, and 23.785 d per gallon from May to August.
For milk surplus to the nominated quantity the prices would be the same for the same periods at an average of up to 17 per cent from September to January, 10 per cent from February to August.
Producer organisations not prepared to accept the full agreement would have the alternative right to seek approval to the payment of the town milk price on that milk which went to town milk supply only, without any payment of the town milk price for surplus milk.
The newly appointed youth director of the Methodist Church in New Zealand (the Rev. J. K. Watson) arrived in Whangarei last night. Mr Watson served as a sapper in the Engineers in Fiji and the Middle East. He gained the unusual distinction of being selected as padre from the ranks. While still a sapper he was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry at Cassino.
