Good Citizenship Essay Competition

To perpetuate the memory of Mr D. J. Lloyd the Whangarei District Progressive Societj, this term, offered prizes for essays written by pupils of the Whangarei Boys’ High School on the life of some great citizen of the world —British or foreign.

The writers were required to show the claim to greatness to be justified by his or her aims, ideal?, efforts and actions.

The competition was divided into five sections.

English masters made a preliminary selection of the best efforts and these were submitted to Miss M. E. Russell, who made the final awards. THE PRIZEWINNERS
