Gains In Chinesa Fightinq

NANKUNG, fri. (1 p.m.)—Nationalist troops, in a pincer attack on Yenling, captured the city yesterday afternoon, and annihilated large Communist forces, according to latest dispatches from Hsuchow. Other successes claimed for Government troops include lifting the siege of Kaomi, an important rail centre 45 miles west of Tsingtae following the arrival of large Nm loyalist reinforcements.

However, fierce fighting is still raging along both sides of the TsingtaoTsinan railway.

Communists, under General Chenyi, are reported to be launching largescale attacks under cover of heavy artillery.
