Mr J. C. Gleeson whose death has occurred in Auckland at the age of 65, was a life-member of the Whangarei Racing Club.
Captain A. G. Hardy, New Plymouth manager for the Waterfront Industry Commission, has been appointed manager of the Northern Steamship Co., Ltd., Auckand He will begin his new duties on January 5. After a career at sea. Captain Hardy was sec-retary-manager of the Opunake Harbour Board, and then secretary of Mokau Collierier, Ltd., before joining Hooker Bros.. Ltd customs agents which he left for his present post.
An announcement that Mr S. H. Hunter, retiring president of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association would be the unanimous choice choice for president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation during the coming year, was made by Mr W. J. Truscott, president of the federation at the annual meeting of the association in Auckland last night.
