Mr Ziman slipped when descending a stairway at his home and suffered abrasions and contusions, but it was not at first thought that his injuries were serious.

Later, however, he complained of feeling unwell and was taken to hospital, where it was found he had de- 1 vcloped haemorrhage of the brain.

He became unconscious and did not ■ec over.

Since November. 194 G, Mr Ziman had been rehabilitation officer at New Zealand House, where he did outstanding work in dealing with the requirements of returned servicemen bursary holders in Britain.

He was official representative in Britain of the University of New Zealand
