WHANGAREI SHOOTER At the Hamilton Gun Club’s shoot this week D. P. North, of Whangarei, gained second place in the Double Rise Trophy and 20, 10 birds. DOMINION PRESIDENT’S VISIT
Arrangements are being made by the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce to welcome the Dominion president of the Associated Chambers, Mr H. Anderson. This is the first time a Dominion president has visited Whangarei. It is hoped to hold a complimentary luncheon for the president on December 1, when members of the Junior Chamber will also be invited. 150 LEARN TO SWIM More than 150 children ranging m age from six to 15 years were at the Primary School baths last evening for the first learners’ night of the season held by the Whangarei Amateur Swimming Club. The youngsters were m the hands of the panel of coaches appointed by the club. The enthusiasm and large attendance indicates a mumper season for the instructors and the capacity of the baths is sure to be fully taxed. ‘ The opening night is being held this evening, when races for al, classes will be staged. The learneis sessions and club nights are he weekly.
