RONGOTAI

At a meeting of the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce last night a letter was read from the Wellington chamber stating that a large airport was needed at Wellington to serve as the hub of air routes in New Zealand.

The Wellington chamber requested that the Whangarei chamber support it in urging that Rongotai be enlarged for this purpose. The National Airways Corporation was behind the Wellington chamber in its proposal, said the president (Mr W. L. McKinnon). He had been advised of tjhis by Colonel F. W. Mothes, of Whangarei Heads, a director of the corporation.

It was unanimously decided to support the Wellington chamber.
