Close-Down Threat To Film Studios
LONDON, Sun. (11.30 a.m.).—The Labour Commoner and secretary of the National Association of Theatrical and Cine Employees (Mr Tom O’Brien) told a meeting of film studio workers that British film studios were threatened with a close-down in the spring. “The Government has thrown the British film industry into the dustbin, and is even preventing the dustcarts from collecting the refuse,” he said. “The Government has failed to provide facilities and remedies for replacing American with British films.” Several hundred studio workers, he alleged, were dismissed last Friday.
