McKenzie Wins
WELLINGTON, Mon. (P.A.).—Ron McKenzie Now Zealand lawn tennis champion, and Stan Painter, finalist ttwo years ago and a semi-finalist last year met in a match during the week-end for the first time this seasop. Playing as a challenger for top 'position on the Newtown Club's ladder, McKenzie won C—l, 6—l.
Brawls and interruptions broke up two meetings held by the Liberal candidate for Carlton (Mr S. Lang). The Premier (Mr Cain), who admitted only last Friday that the State Labour Party favoured nationalisation of private banks, professes optimism about the result of the campaign. He says that a three-day tour of country areas has convinced him that there will be no landslide against the Labour Party.
