MELBOURNE, Sat. (11 a.m.).—A record number of 62 of the 65 seats in the Legislative Assembly will be contested at the State elect'/m on November 8. Nominations closed yesterday with a total of 148 candidates. The only uncontested seats will be those of Sir George Knox (Liberal, Scoresby), Speaker of the Assembly, Mr A. H. Dennett (Liberal, Caulfield); and Mr T. W. Mitchell (Country Party. Benambra). ■ Labour has nominated 52 candidates, the Liberals 50, Country Party 27, and Independent parties 19.
