S. E. Foot Wins Chomp, Handicap

MINIATURE RIFLES

By winning the championship and handicap aggregate of the Whangarei Miniature Rifle Club for the season, which concluded on Thursday night, S. E. Foot, has shown remarkable consistency .

Shooting from scratch, Foot never once turned m a poor target. His performance was highly praised by the secretary (Mr S. BerneO at the prize-giving ceremony last night. . Mr Bernet stated that consistency was necessary to win prizes and that Foot had put up a wonderful performance to top the handicap aggregate from scratch. Reference was made to the fact that only 5000 rounds of ammunition was obtainable for the past season and the hope was expressed that the position would improve next year. Tne difficulties of obtaining a range were also mentioned, but Mr Bernet thought that the club would be able to use the Drill Hall again when it resumed operations. SEASON’S WINNERS Frizes were presented to the following. Club championship. S. E. Foot; handicap aggregate (men). S. E. Foot; women, Mrs C. Teal; junior, D. McArthur.

Trophies for weekly shoots sinee August 21 were presented to C. Teal, S. E. Foot, H. McGregor and A. P. Kendon. Foot and Mrs Foot received the trophy for this week’s shoot. That was a self-handicap pairs sweepstake for which the trophy was donated by Mr S. Matthews. Best scores were: Foot' and Mrs Font 97.4, 97.5. 6. 200.9; H. McGregoi, and Mrs C. Teal 93.3. 95.3, 10, 198.0; T. McKcown and A. P. Kendon 91.1, 95.3, 12, 193.4. CHAMPIONSHIP AGGREGATES The best scores in the season's championship, which was decided over the best six shoots out of eight, were: S. E. Foot 597.7; S Withers 585.4; C. Teal 581.0: G. Neville 580.9; M. Waters 575.4; P. Kendcn 574.1; H. McGregor 573.7; A. W. Hewitt 572.5; L. Holmes 572.4; Mis Foot 570.8; T. McKeown 570.0; Mrs Teal 563.6; W. Howie 559.5; C. Comber 557.9; S. Bernet 557.1; J. Wallace 553.0; U. Seux 539.8; Miss Howie 523.0.
