WHANGAREI BRANCH “BATTLE OF BRITAIN” COMMEMORATION DAY SUNSET SERVICE SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 14, 1947. AN SUNDAY September 14, 1947. a Sunset Service will be held at the War Memorial, the Triangle, in commemoration of the Victory of the “Battle of Britain” and in memory of all members of His Majesty's Air Forces who gave their lives during the two World Wars. All ex-members of any of His Majesty’s Air Forces are urged to attend the Sunset Service, which will commence at 5.45 p.m., and to assemble on the Walton Street-Rose Street intersection at 5.35 p.m. sharp. KING’S COLLEGE AUCKLAND ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 1948 'T'HE Governing Body of King’s Col--1 lege, subject to the Regulations laid down, offers the following Scholarships for 1948: CLASS (a) Primary: Open only to hoys attending the State Primary Schools. (I) Campbell Scholarship of £9O per annum. (II) Three Scholarships of £45 per annum. , (III) Parnell Grammar School Old Boys’ Scholarship of £2O per annum for Day-boys. Subjects: English, Arithmetic, History, Geography and a General Knowledge Paper. CLASS (b) Secondary: (I) One of £45 per annum—Open. (II) Three of £45 per annum, open only to boys at Preparatory Schools. Subjects: English, Latin, French, Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and a General Knowledge Paper. Candidates who do not offer both Latin and French must take History and Geography at the Primary stage for one of them. CLASS (c) Open: One Singing Scholarship for unbroken voices of £45. Subjects: As for Class (a), together with a singing test.
