Forestry Student Likes few Zealand
(Special) AUCKLAND. This Day. Young Peter Cruickshank is one overseas visitor who does not find New Zealand a Gestapo country; in fact he likes the Dominion so much he is thinking of returning to settle here. Eeighteen-year-old Peter who, until recently was a student at Robert Gordons’ College in Aberdeen, is .(pending a few days in Auckland in the course of a New Zealand tour, which he earned when he won the Otaki Shield at his school. In a soft Scot's accent, showing no signs of affectation, Peter explained, after his arrival yesterday, that he intended to study forestry at Aberdeen University on his return home. When he had obtained his bachelor of science degree in this subject he would settle down in one of the Dominions, probably New Zealand.
VISIT TO WIIANGAREI The good prospects here for experts in forestry influenced this tentative decision, but he was not hesitant in saying the friendliness and hospitality of the people had so far been the most impressive feature of the country. New Zealand’s more generous ration scale also found favour with the visitor. Peter’s tour, which is largely one of sight-seeing, will conclude with a visit to Whangarei early next week. He will then leave for Wellington on the first stage of his return home.
