Maintain Fertiliser Orders, Farmers Urged
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. “Any action to reduce quantities of fertiliser used from now on will detrimentally affect producers themselves and the campaign to help Britain.”
The general manager of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board (Mr J. J. Evans) said this last night. ‘•ln the face of a definite assurance given by the Government that increased costs brought about by the withdrawal of subsidies would be fully met by increases in the fat stock schedule of prices for \.ne ensuing season, farmers are strongly urged to cover themselves for their full requirements of fertiliser,” he said. “The board’s case for increased prices has been lodged with the Economic Stabilisation Commission, and it is hoped that finality will be reached early next week. “If the Government accedes to the request contained in the board's case producers are assured of receiving adequate compensation for all increases in costs likely to be incurred during the ensuing season.”
